| | that 5.6 quake was FREAKY. the whole house swayed ... like the way you see kelp at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I wonder if it's because we're raised. | comments: Leave a comment |
| | i was down in redwood shores feeding my parents' cat, and their house did the exact same thing you describe. kept going long after the earth stopped moving even. i just sat in a doorway and rode it out. | | (Reply) (Thread) |

| is largely fill, so i daresay it wiggled a bit more. just as the jello keeps moving after the bowl has stopped. ;)
we thought it was our washer acting up until the rolling wave hit. | | (Reply) (Parent) (Thread) |
| | Felt it here in Santa Cruz. It was LOUD, I could hear it coming. Over an hour later and Kita still isn't out from under the chair. | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | We shook back and forth a bit. It seemed longer than "normal"... my father is in San Jose; I called and he *really* felt it. His cats apparently were not thrilled with the situation, however nothing broke or was damaged. He said his walls were shaking a bunch. :o) | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | felt less sway and more rattle here in Soquel but maybe my house is stiff? Vanessa had just gone to bed and the rumble-rattle scared her a bit. I lingered in the hallway waiting for it to get Real Bad. The cats? They sat motionless on the sofa. Utterly worthless, they are! | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| I don't think it was that it was high magnitude... more that it lasted so long. I had enough time to realize I was in a quake, hopped in the doorway, realized I wanted my shoes on, went and got my shoes, went back in the door, and still had some to ride out.
So, it's not that it was so watery, it's that it lasted so long.... we got the full shake of the earth! | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | The number one reason my mom won't live in CA nor would she like it if I did. I am glad you are ok. | | (Reply) (Thread) |
| | I hope everyone is okay. we had a couple of shakers here...but they were never higher than a 2.8. Living on granite and limestone makes them very loud though. I hope everyone is well. I haven't heard a thing about it! | | (Reply) (Thread) |
